Your right to privacy
In this statement, we explain how Global Shares respects your privacy in relation to interactions with this website Equity Portal and Global Shares. When we talk about “Global Shares” or “us” or “we” in this statement we are referring to Global Shares Public Limited Company, a company registered in the Republic of Ireland, its subsidiaries, affiliates and their respective parent and subsidiary companies.

Collection and use of personal information
We collect personal information about you as a customer via your Equity Portal. This information is limited to what is required for the administration of your employee trading account, and will only be used for that purpose. We will also collect personal data about you from your employer company who has engaged us to act as administrator of the employee share plans. We will sometimes record telephone conversations to improve security, resolve complaints, improve service and train our employees. We will always let you know when we are recording our calls with you.

Data security
To protect your information we use security measures that comply with Irish law and meet international standards. This includes computer safeguards and secure files and buildings. Our security measures include:

  • 128 bit Secure Socket Layer encryption that protects information being transmitted over the internet;
  • Encryption or scrambling of information while it moves from one source to another; and
  • Use of firewalls for keeping our network secure.

Your right of access
Under the Irish Data Protection Acts, you have the right to see the personal information we hold about you. We will charge you €6.35 for this. To get a copy of this information, you should write to us at Head of Client Delivery, Global Shares, Building D, West Cork Technology Park, Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Ireland. If your information changes or you believe we have information which is inaccurate or not up-to-date please let us know and we will change it. 

Our legal obligation
We have a legal obligation to prevent fraud, tax avoidance, money laundering and terrorist financing. These obligations mean we have to continually update our customer information. Often we have to share customer information with third party law enforcement agencies. Where false or misleading information is given to us, or we suspect criminal activity we will record this and tell the appropriate law enforcement agencies, which may be within and outside Ireland.
